Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Pasta Shells Recipe

Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Pasta

I recently put together a blog post about the 10 Most Unique Pasta Dishes on my site and honestly, I think I’m going to have to update it and add this amazing Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Pasta recipe to the mix! This is definitely what I’d call a “unique pasta dish.” It’s my rendition of a traditional Philly Cheesesteak except it’s in pasta form and made with simplistic ingredients.

SIMPLE INGREDIENTS

I wanted to keep the feel and taste of a traditional Philly Cheesesteak so I stuck with staples such as the fried onions and provolone cheese. But I swapped out the ribeye steak for ground beef instead. Ground beef is a lot simpler to work with and MUCH cheaper. It’s also a lot easier to stuff into the pasta shells. And to give this recipe an extra oomph of flavor, I included a few savory condiments. The mix of ketchup, soy sauce, salt, pepper and garlic made for an incredible taste combo.

THE SAUCE

Since this is still a pasta dish, I knew I had to add a delicious sauce to go with it. Creamy is definitely best for this recipe because it compliments the beef mixture well and the white sauce adds to the “Philly cheesesteak look.” All you’ll need to make the sauce is some beef broth, salt, cornstarch, shredded cheese and half & half. If you don’t have half & half you’re more than welcome to substitute whole milk or heavy cream instead. You can heat the sauce on the stovetop while you’re working on stuffing the shells. This will give it time to boil and start thickening up a bit. By the time you’re done stuffing the shells, the sauce should be done as well.  You can then pour it all over the Philly cheesesteak stuffed pasta right before placing the dish in the oven.

It was nice being able to sneak some meat into their diet without them fighting me. ;P And my husband and I really liked the fact that it was delicious, affordable and different from the norm. It will definitely be my new go-to meal when I’m craving a quick Philly Cheesesteak fix! Read on for the full recipe.
