Do you all remember the Homemade Apple Cider I shared a few weeks ago? Its creation was driven by the sole purpose of incorporating it into this delightful Apple Cider Donuts recipe. Many of you are familiar with this seasonal treat that’s often found at pumpkin patches and apple orchards this time of year. But there’s something about baking your own batch at home that makes them even better. No more worrying about stale donuts that have been sitting on the farm for days. These donuts are incredibly fresh, soft and have that perfectly sweet, autumn flavor we all love.
Simple Ingredients
The ingredients needed to make these Apple Cider Donuts are primarily common kitchen staples, typically found in any baker’s pantry. With items like butter, eggs, sugars, flour, and milk, you’re likely to have most of them readily available. The magic happens with the addition of the apple pie spice and apple cider, which impart that unmistakable autumn taste. These unique ingredients take a traditional donut recipe and transform it into a seasonal delight.
Baking Instead of Frying
The ease of this apple cider donut recipe comes from the fact that you can bake them instead of frying them. Just fill a donut pan with the batter and pop them in the oven. The result is a batch of moist, tender donuts with a lovely exterior that’s lightly crispy. They come together in the oven beautifully, offering all the taste and satisfaction you’d expect from a classic donut without the excess oil.
Cinnamon Sugar Topping
When it comes to adding the topping to your baked apple cider donuts, you can adjust how much sugar you’d like on each donut. You’ll start by dipping each donut into the melted butter which adds its own level of flavor but also helps to ensure the cinnamon sugar sticks to the donut. You can then dip each side of the donut into the cinnamon sugar, or simply sprinkle a little on each side if you don’t want it too sweet.
