Nutella Stuffed French Toast Roll Ups

Nutella Stuffed French Toast Roll Ups

I’ve had these Nutella Stuffed French Toast Roll Ups on my “to-make” list for quite a while now! I was finally able to try them out the other day and they were worth the wait. These are sweet and so decadently delicious. But I don’t care, I’m still labeling them as a breakfast food! Who doesn’t love having dessert for breakfast? For me, they went amazing with my creamy English breakfast tea in the mornin’.

SECRET INGREDIENT FOR EXTRA HAZELNUT FLAVOR

As I’m sure everyone knows, Nutella is a delectably creamy spread that’s made from a mixture of cocoa, sugar and hazelnuts. I wanted to compliment that hazelnut flavor somehow so I decided to go a step further and add hazelnut creamer to the egg mixture. It gave the finished roll ups an extra subtle hint of hazelnut sweetness without overdoing it.

USING AN ELECTRIC GRIDDLE

If you don’t already have one, I highly recommend investing in a non-stick electric griddle. It’s been a live saver for me over the years. I make my pancakes on it all the time and now I’m making these roll ups on it too! It’s great because the griddle is large enough to fit everything you’re cooking all at once and save a ton of time instead of only being able to fit a few on a skillet at a time. Here’s a link to the one I have been using for years:

NUTELLA STUFFED FRENCH TOAST ROLL UPS

I was intimidated when I first thought about making this recipe, but I promise you it turned out very easy to make. It might take you a few extra minutes to fry all sides to perfection, but otherwise all the steps are straightforward and simple to follow. With the holidays coming up, these Nutella Stuffed French Toast Roll Ups would make a great addition to your breakfast menu. Let me know how they turn out for you in the comments below.

These Stuffed Roll Ups are filled with delectably creamy Nutella and a secret ingredient that adds an extra hint of hazelnut flavor.

Ingredients

  • 10 slices of white bread

  • 7 oz container of Nutella

  • 1 egg

  • 2 Tbs milk

  • 1 Tbs hazelnut creamer

  • 2 Tbs butter

  • 1-2 Tbs cinnamon

  • 1-2 Tbs sugar

  • Whipped cream (optional for topping)

Directions

  • Cut the crust off of all the bread slices. Then use a rolling pin to flatten all the bread slices
  • Spread a generous amount of Nutella on all bread slices. Roll them up tight
  • In a small bowl, whisk the egg, milk and hazelnut creamer
  • In a separate bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar. Set aside for now
  • Melt the butter in a large skillet on medium heat (if you’re using a non-stick electric griddle, you can skip the butter)
  • Cover the Nutella stuffed bread with the egg/milk mixture (you don’t have to dip it completely in the mixture, you can just roll it around on the surface making sure all sides are covered with the egg/milk mixture)
  • Place the roll ups on the heated skillet (or griddle), side by side but not touching
  • Fry about 3-5 minutes on ALL sides until browned and heated through
  • Remove from heat and roll in the cinnamon/sugar mixture
  • Repeat until all roll ups are cooked
  • Top with whipped cream if desired!
