This is an awesome Flaky Crust recipe I adapted from my husband’s grandma. It’s perfectly flaky, buttery and will enhance any dish you decide to use it with! I personally tried it with my Sausage and Potato Quiche Style Casserole and it was delectable.
Be ready to get your hands “dirty” with this recipe because there will be a lot of flour and kneading involved. Follow the full Flaky Crust recipe below and be sure to pair it with your favorite pie, casserole, or quiche filling!

kcalPerfectly Flaky Pie Crust Recipe! Easy to make and great for pies, quiches or casseroles. A great recipe to have in your back pocket.
Ingredients
½ cup butter
½ cup Crisco (or lard)
2 cups flour
½ tsp baking powder
6 Tbs milk
Pinch of salt
Directions
- Place all ingredients in a large bowl
- Cover your hands with flour (and make sure to have extra flour nearby for reapplying)
- Knead the ingredients together using your flour-covered hands. Reapply flour as needed to prevent the dough sticking to your hands too much
- Continue kneading with hands until the dough is mixed, smooth and firm. Place the ball of dough into the center of whichever pan you are using (pie dish, casserole dish, baking pan, etc.)
- Cover your hands in more flour and start spreading the dough evenly from the center until it covers the bottom of the pan and spreads up along the height of the pan as well
- The dough may spread thin on the bottom which is OK as long as there are NO holes
- Add whatever filling you will be using and bake accordingly
