Marrying into a part-Polish family has opened up a whole new world of food for me. When I first came across this dish, I didn’t know it was Polish. I just knew buttery noodles sounded too good to resist. And with the addition of fried cabbage….yum! Funny story, the first time I made this, I was FaceTiming with my mother-in-law telling her all about them, showing her my big bowl of noodles. All she said to me was “You’re not gonna believe this” and proceeded to flip her phone around and show me HER bowl of Haluski egg noodles that she had just cooked earlier that day as well. What are the chances? 😛
That’s when she told me all about how she grew up on these noodles because her Polish grandmother would make them all the time. My version of the recipe differs slightly from the traditional Haluski dish. I like “loaded” food so I added two types of meat: bacon and kielbasa. This dish is everything I look for in a meal. Savory, flavorful and full of pasta and garlic! What more can I ask for? Full recipe for these Haluski Egg Noodles below. Enjoy!
